Questions & answers

The questions homeowners actually ask.

The questions Triangle homeowners actually ask us, in the order they tend to ask them — from "is this a job for you?" through to "where do you work and when can you start?"

Stage

Before you decide

What kind of work do you take on?

Six main things: kitchen remodeling; bathroom remodeling; screen porch enclosures; decks, pergolas and pavilions; basement finishing; and home additions — in-law suites, bonus rooms, second-floor and attic additions, and garage conversions. We work across Cary, Apex, Raleigh, Morrisville, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina and the wider Triangle.

Will you handle the HOA drawings and permits?

Yes. For porches, decks and additions, Taylor prepares the drawings and plans submitted for HOA approval and pulls the permits — and lays out the pros, cons and costs of each option upfront, so you can choose the plan that fits before anything is built.

Do you handle the whole project, or just part of it?

The whole thing. As a licensed general contractor, Taylor coordinates the framing, cabinetry, tile, flooring, electrical and finishing — and his own crew — under one name. That's why our reviews describe the process as "seamless" and "smooth, organized," rather than juggled across separate contractors.

Who does the work

Who will be running my project?

Taylor Scott, who owns the company and is a licensed general contractor, is the project manager on every job — the first walkthrough, the drawings, the build and the final walk-through. Clients describe him as "incredible to work with," "a true professional," and "very professional and easy to work with."

Are you licensed and certified?

Yes — Metanoia Contracting is a North Carolina licensed general contractor, Building license #105657, verified and active, and a Duxxbak Decking Certified Installer. Taylor has worked in construction since high school and specializes in custom trim, remodeling and cabinetry.

How a project runs

Will you keep my home clean during the work?

Yes — it's one of the things clients single out. As David wrote, "everything was kept clean and tidy during the process," and "care was also taken to protect the existing floors and walls during construction." Your home is looked after while we build.

Will I be kept in the loop, and are options priced upfront?

Yes to both. Stephanie wrote that Taylor "kept us in the loop every step of the way," and Shounak noted he "informed us with all pros and cons along with the cost estimates upfront, which helped us decide." The best way to get specifics is a free walkthrough and estimate.

Areas & getting started

Which areas do you cover?

We're a Cary company and cover the greater Triangle — Apex, Raleigh, Morrisville, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Wake Forest and Durham among them, plus Chapel Hill and Garner further out. If you're nearby and not listed, just ask.

What are your hours, and how do I get started?

We're reachable Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, with evenings and weekends by appointment. The best way to start is to call Taylor at (919) 268-1458 or send a few details, and he'll arrange to come take a look and give you a free estimate.

Still have a question?

Ask Taylor directly — there's no charge for a chat or a walkthrough.
